I've said it before: have a list-making addiction. Especially lists that involve setting goals. So you can imagine how excited I get when a new year rolls around. It’s basically a list-making-extravaganza. So, just for fun: here is a New Years Resolution List, in second person narrative.

1. Write EVERYDAY. Please! This is important!!! Especially if you want to finish one of those novels by your birthday. (<-last year’s birthday resolution)

2. Three words: TWO CENT SPARROW. Get on it, you slacker! You have exactly one month to brainstorm new designs, perfect old ones, and actually spend time investing in your shop.

3. Stick with school! Finish something really trivial and meaningless for once in your life! Don’t give up!!!

(I’m really not sure why there’s so much yelling involved in these resolutions… I'm taking a deep breath now… there that’s better…)

4. Learn to play the fiddle. Embrace the squawking. Master a metis tune by summer.

5. Spend more time at home on the farm. Drink lots of coffee with B & P. Treasure them. Soak them up. Make sure you get them deep inside you. They won’t be around forever.

What are your resolutions for this year?

  1. These are great! Now I'm thinking about mine. I'm usually scared to say them out loud because what if they don't happen? The other day to my surprise I blurted out that I was going to record my own album this year. And then afterwards I felt really stupid. But, I want to! What motivates us to follow-through? What keeps us from accomplishing the things that are important to us? Anyway....thanks for sharing these!
